All Posts are required to revalidate each year prior to State Convention. A new form is being used this year effective March 2018. If you do not use the current form revised March 2018, your information will be returned to you. Contact Executive Director Clark Leckington if you need a copy of the new form sent to your Post. Click on a link to the below and print a copy of the 2018 Post Revalidation Form which must be used. REMEMBER - every Post, Auxiliary, Sons Squadron, and Riders Chapter must file a 990 form with the IRS each year to maintain your non-profit status.
The 2016-17 Americanism Contest Forms are now available here. This is an excellent program to introduce to your local schools. This year's theme is "Why is it important to vote?" Criteria for the program is attached with registration forms. All entries should be submitted to the State Office by May 20, 2017 to allow the committee time to review them. Contest packets may be found at www.amvets.org/americanism/ . All children, K - 12th grade are eligible to enter. Department winners at each grade level are automatically entered at the National level.
2016-17 Americanism Contest Announced
Care Bears are now available through Executive Director Clark Leckington at the Department Office. The bears are 14" brown bears with an AMVET ribbon and can be purchased for $6.00 each. These make an excellent community service project to provide to your local law enforcement who often deal with traumatized children. Consider this project as you plan for your upcoming year.
2018 Iowa AMVETS Scholarship Now Available
AMVETS Department of Iowa announces it is now accepting scholarship applications for 2018. Applications need to be submitted by April 1, 2018 along with ACT/SAT scores, and a copy of the graduating high school senior's transcript showing, rank in class and GPA. Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $2000.
On March 6, 2018 AMVETS joined Veterans Affairs in a unique partnership to combat the veterans mental health care crisis. Attached below is further information on this initiative and National Commander Marion Polk's testimony to Congress.
